I've put a ton of effort into Mini Micro's fonts, but until now haven't had the need to think much about its audio impression. But we are going to need two built-in sounds: one on startup, and one for a console beep. Today I want to talk about the console beep.
This is a sound that is played any time the character char(7)
(traditionally called "BELL") is printed to the screen. Obviously in a real app, you should probably load or code your own custom sounds. But when learning or just doing a quick hack, this is a handy way to provide an audio alert. But exactly what sound should this make?
I've collected 8 candidates here:

What do you think? Currently I'm leaning towards the "Beep Single" that's third from the end (careful, there are several sounds here with the same name). But I'd love to hear your opinion on the matter! "Triangle Wave Beep Low" also sounds good and is nice and clean, and very close to what real home computers of the 80s sounded like, but like the rest of Mini Micro's capabilities, I want its system beep to not just imitate the past, but go beyond it. We need a better beep.
So please give them a listen, and let me know which you like!
